Yes, an iconic tour that you can find in all newspapers and guides about Liptov as number 1. Yes, in terms of its length, difficulty and from the point of view of Liptov visitors, it is literally an ideal track. But, that wouldn't be a but, don't forget that you will drive the entire route along the I/18 road, where you are fighting for your life from start to finish. Without any fun in the summer months of July-August, forget about this tour, in short, avoid it. The southern part of the circuit, although not very attractive, can test your psyche perfectly. The racers with their 20-year-old turbodiesels will prove to you that nothing is impossible and you can beat yesterday... If you're lucky, you won't believe how fast and how close a 40-ton mixer will pass you
But to write something nice about this track. In the months of May-June, Sep-Oct. it can really please especially the northern part, that's why I like to drive it in a clockwise direction. From Mikuláš to Gôtovany you drive on older asphalt, but by Slovak standards it is quite cool, and from Gôtovian to Bešeňová you enjoy a new carpet.
For me, it always starts to be the most beautiful from Bešeňová, where you perform most of the times around Bobrovník. You will blow your mind on a beautiful descent with a view of Lipotvská Mara. You can treat yourself to a beer or lunch at the local marina under the hill. Well, I always like to diversify this circuit with a mini circuit, where I go past the archeological site of Havránok all the way to the dam wall.
With an interesting drive along the dam wall, I reach Vlašek and back I board the metro with a long ascent above Bobrovník. After that, a beautiful descent and I am heading along the beautiful road past L. Mara back to L. Mikuláš. This part of the road is again worth the reward. Avoid the summer holidays, it's crazy.
The ideal day for this route is Sunday morning outside the summer tourist season. They are all in churches frying steaks for lunch.
